01Who we are
Absurd Dreams runs this website and decides how your personal information is used. We follow Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022. Our contact details are at the end of this page.
02What we collect
When you create an account
- Your name, email address and mobile number.
- Your password, stored securely so that no one at Absurd Dreams can see it.
- If you choose "Continue with Google": your name and email address from your Google account.
When you book
- The show, seats or places, ticket types, amount and booking reference, and any note you add.
- The payment receipt you upload. It may show your name, bank, part of your account number, the amount and the date.
- Notes we make while checking your payment.
When you use the site
- Basic technical information such as your IP address, used to keep the site secure.
- Small items stored on your device, explained in our Cookie Policy.
We do not collect card details. All payments are made by bank transfer.
03How we use it
- To hold your seats, check your payment, confirm your booking and issue your e-ticket. This is needed to perform our agreement with you.
- To check tickets at the door and help you if something goes wrong.
- To contact you about your booking, for example if a performance changes or is cancelled.
- To run your account, keep the site secure and prevent fraud. These are our legitimate interests.
- To keep financial records and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your information. We do not send marketing messages unless you have agreed to receive them.
05How we protect it
The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and appropriate safeguards to protect your information. Uploaded receipts are private and only our box-office team can see them. No system is perfectly secure, so please also keep your own password safe.
06How long we keep it
- Bookings and receipts: for 2 years after the event, for accounting and to handle any disputes. After that we delete them.
- Accounts: until you ask us to delete your account. We may also delete accounts that have been inactive for 2 years.
- Unpaid holds that expire are kept only as long as needed to show you what happened, then removed with routine clean-ups.
07Your rights
Under the Personal Data Protection Act you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your information, where we no longer need to keep it;
- stop using it for a particular purpose, or withdraw a consent you gave.
Email us to make a request. We may need to confirm it is you before we act on it. We will reply as soon as we can, within the time the law allows. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Authority of Sri Lanka.
08Children
Children under 16 should book with a parent or guardian, who should create the account and make the booking.
09Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make an important change, we will tell account holders by email.
